David wrote Psalm 24 about the kingdom of Christ. Verses one and two are about His providential kingdom that He created and rules over. As one lives for Christ, they will receive His love, mercy and grace in abundance. Verse four describes such a person as having "clean hands and a pure heart." One must ask Him into their heart for salvation and also must surrender to Him through being sanctified through and through. It does not matter how many times we go to church or how much money we give. Nor does it matter how many times we visit people or lead a small group. What does matter is our "pure heart" being just that. The only way to have a "pure heart" is to be surrendered fully to Christ. It is then, and only then, one can hear His voice and walk in obedience. It is believed David wrote this Psalm as he brought the Ark of the Covenant to its place. He desired for people to look beyond the outward festivities of the event and to be focused on living a holy life. Once again I think back to the great sacrifice God made through Jesus' death on the cross. I do not want His death to go in vain. He died for every one of us. He died so we could live. His desire is that we live for Him. We are His temple. He lives in and through us as we allow Him free reign in our lives. He knocks on the door of our heart and waits like a gentleman. He does not knock once and leave but patiently waits. When we open up that door, He walks in with His love, mercy and grace through salvation. Once He comes in there is like a closet with something stinky He wants to open. Many times He asks repeatedly for this to happen but we like to hold onto such junk. Finally, when we allow Him to clean out that closet we begin to live a life of holiness. I like how Matthew Henry states it. "Lord, open the everlasting door of our souls by thy grace, that we may now receive thee, and be wholly thine; and that, at length, we may be numbered with thy saints in glory." Woo hoo! Eternal life is the greatest blessing of all for those who live in His ways. "He is the King of glory!"
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the mental and emotional strength to get through yesterday with all of the 'junk' with bills and insurance. I could not believe the whole day was spent on it. Father, I pray I touched someone's life in some way yesterday. I pray the same for today. I pray You will cleanse anything in me so my heart is pure. I pray for an abundance of You to shine through me today. Lord, I also thank You for enabling Doc to finish his route yesterday. I pray for Your supernatural empowerment to come down upon him today as he does it again. Father, be so very real to him and enable him to be a beacon of light as he goes throughout his day. You are so awesome in the way You bless us. Thank You for being Our King of Glory! Amen.
