Psalm 115 - "Not To Us"

Psalm 115 is full of richness of how we are to give God the glory no matter what. That means in 'good' days and 'tough' days. It means even when we do not feel like it. When we do, He enables us to get through tough times easier. He does not always take them away because if He did we would not think we need Him. He is the One to give glory to (vs. 1). We are not to give glory to anything but Him (vs. 2-8). We give Him glory when we trust Him. It is through this time His promises are fulfilled and we are blessed (vs. 9-15). When we glorify Him, He is blessed (vs. 16-8). A commentary reads about this Psalm, "Some think this psalm was penned upon occasion of some great distress and trouble that the church of God was in, when the enemies were in insolent and threatening, in which case the church does not so much pour out her complaint to God as place her confidence in God, and triumph in doing so; and with such a holy triumph we ought to sing this psalm." Woo hoo! Yes! We must put our confidence in Him and continue on keeping on our path with Him when the enemy comes knocking at our door.

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for these words of encouragement today. Thank You for never leaving me. Thank You for my Momma's eye surgery going well this morning. I pray for her time of recuperation and healing to go well. I pray for people near her to check on her and encourage her. Lord, I pray for our time with the children and teens tonight. Please use us to be a beacon of light in their lives. I also pray for healing in my husband's body. Lord, be our words, attitude and actions during tough days to not only others but to each other. Thank You Jesus for being The One We Glorify. Amen.
