Psalm 91 - "Good Morning"

There is absolutely no better way to start the day than soakin' with the Lord.  My Grandma always told me the best time of the day is when you wake up and you can just lay there and soak.  My soakin' time this morning was a full hour filled with talking to the Lord while enjoying the simplicity of the moment.  (Or I guess I should say hour!  LOL)  Mandisa's song "Good Morning" goes….

Slow down, breathe in
Don't move ahead
I'm just living in this moment

That's exactly how I started my day.  I want to make sure to not allow "stuff" to get in the way of knowing what the Lord has in store for me today.  The song continues

Good morning
You give me strength
You give me just what I need

I am standing on Psalm 91 today.  The desire of my heart is to be "…in the secret place…under the shadow of the Almighty."  When I am there, I will be protected from the enemy.

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
    my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
    nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
    nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
    ten thousand at your right hand,
    but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
    and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for my soakin' time this morning.  Thank You for listening to the desires of my heart.  I pray for Your direction in the areas we talked about this morning.  Father, I also pray for the one who accepted you last night.  I pray against the enemy getting a foothold in his life.  Lord, I also pray for the one who is running from You and filling her life with "stuff" instead of You.  Yes, the "stuff" is "good stuff" but when You aren't the center of our lives it doesn't matter what we do.  Lord, open her eyes and her heart to a true relationship with You instead of just a relationship of going to church and playing the part.  Father, keep me in the secret place today…enable me to stay in Your Presence no matter what comes my way.  Thank You Jesus for being My Soaker!  Amen.
