Exodus 20:3 - "Come Now Is The Time To Worship"

The word 'worship' can take on so many different meanings to people. Some people worship God but it is sad how many others worship gods. The gods of this world are so numerous. Some people don't even realize they are worshiping something because it comes so natural to them. That is sad. God is the only One we are to worship. We are not to worship money, things, other people or ourselves. No, we are to worship the One and Only True God. It amazes me how many times people get caught up in worshiping another person. This can happen so easily yet it is not of God. The enemy enjoys it because it gets our eyes off of God. Many times when this happens a relationship is destroyed...a marriage, a church, a parent/child relationship, etc. The enemy loves the ground he can accomplish through one worshiping something or someone other than God. He loves when division is caused in God's people. He loves when people leave a church. He loves to see people fall out of relationship with God. He loves when people choose to worship earthly things instead of God. He does not like when people are restored back into relationship with God. He also does not like when God wins. But in the end God does win when we worship Him. Woo hoo!

Willingly we choose to surrender our lives
Willingly our knees will bow
With all our hearts, whole mind and strength
We gladly choose You now

"willingly" "choose" "surrender"...these words are what true worship is all about. We must surrender everything in order to truly worship Him. We cannot hold back anything from Him if we want to worship Him in the manner He so desires of us. No, we must surrender everything...our calendar, our checkbook, our circumstances, our family...everything. When we do this, worship will take on a whole new meaning. There will be freedom like we have never experienced before. It is not about whether we like the music on Sunday morning. It is not about whether we are in the mood or not to worship. It is not about if life is going good or bad. It is all about worshiping God with a clean heart. In the words of Charles Spurgeon, “Depend on it, my hearer, you never will go to heaven unless you are prepared to worship Jesus Christ as God.”

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for being the One I worship! Thank You for opening my eyes to the freedom found in true worship! Thank You for leading me in a surrendered life! Father, there are so many in this world who worship other people and/or things instead of You. There are even believers who fall into this category because they have not surrendered everything to You. Lord, may more people worship You. May more people have the desire in their heart to live for eternity with You. Father, fill me to overflowing with more of You so people will see and hear You in me today. Guide me to be a beacon of light in this dark world so people will choose You. Thank You for being The One I Worship. Amen.
