"Fear you don't own me...there's ain't no room in this story..." The words to "The Breakup Song" have been going through my mind all night. At one point I asked God if I was fearful. I didn't feel like I was but yet with the pain I am having maybe there is some fear. Did I do something permanent to my back/hip? Will the pain ever go away? These questions were flitting through my mind yet I felt peace in knowing whatever lies ahead is in God's hands. I know of some other people going through physical issues that may or may not be fearful. Some are waiting on cancer testing results. Some are going week by week with not knowing if their numbers are good enough for treatment. Some are waiting to begin treatment as soon as they heal from surgery. Then there are those who are dealing with emotional issues as they go through job change, financial issues, family issues. Those who are seeking more of God are dealing with spiritual questions. There are some who desire more of God yet are unsure what that entails. Some who desire to go deeper yet there is fear in that concept. What if He asks me to do something I don't want to do? What will my family and friends think if I do what He asks? There is no reason to fear when You trust God. I love a verse I learned as a child and continue to teach children...
Trust is key to having peace. Trusting in God is the only way to live. In this verse it tells us not to make any decisions by ourself ("lean not on your own understanding") but instead to allow Him to be in control ("in all your ways submit to him"). The end result will be His peace ("he will make your paths straight").
No God = No Peace
Know God = Know Peace
This morning I am praying for so many people who need to truly know Him so they can experience His peace. I am praying for people to get to the end of themselves and allow Him to work in and through them. The only way to conquer fear is through a deep faith that will enable one to have great trust in our Heavenly Father. He is greater than anything that comes our way.
Dear Jesus,
Thank You for this Scripture that You brought to me this morning. Thank You for the song You gave me throughout the night. Father, take me deeper into relationship with You today. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May You ooze out of me in a way that all people will see/hear You instead of me through my words, actions, and attitude throughout this day. Father, replace fear in people with trust which will enable them to have peace. I pray You will take away my pain but if You need to use it to teach me or others a lesson so be it. Thank You Jesus for being My Peace. Amen.
