Psalm 19:1-4; Jeremiah 31:3 - "You Say"

Yesterday was another day full of blessings. Breakfast with ladies from the church for a belated birthday celebration for Terri, a walk at Crystal Lake Park, sharing 'Taste of Beaufort' at the waterfront with Doug for his first time, and him grilling dinner for us followed by seeing the sunset made for a perfect day. As I watched the sunset I thought about the verses God started my day off with yesterday. Psalm 19:1-4 reads in the VOICE:

The celestial realms announce God’s glory; the skies testify of His hands’ great work.
Each day pours out more of their sayings; each night, more to hear and more to learn.
Inaudible words are their manner of speech,
and silence, their means to convey.
Yet from here to the ends of the earth, their voices have gone out; the whole world can hear what they say.

Woo hoo! God speaks through nature. Sometimes it is in an audible voice and other times not. Sometimes He speaks through other people. This morning waking up to my husband praying over me was such a blessing. Hearing him praise God for bringing me into his life was priceless. I was reminded of Jeremiah 31:3 that I wrote about earlier in the week. God declared, "I have loved you with an everlasting love—out of faithfulness I have drawn you close." His love is key in all our relationships. When a relationship is based upon God, it will be strong. It does not mean there won't be issues but it means God will be there to get you through such issues. Relationships with family and friends can be hurtful. We must remember God is there to soothe the hurts of our heart as we allow Him. It is through such times of hurt our faith goes deeper as we trust Him for reconciliation. Last night before going to bed, during the night, and this morning I prayed for pastors. Relationships within the church can be a blessing and they can be hurtful. As I prayed I was reminded of a pastor who was recently greatly hurt by their congregation. I prayed for them to realize people are human. I also prayed for him to get to the point in life when he could forgive and love as Jesus' teaches us to do. The song "You Say" that Lauren Dagle sings.

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough

Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up

Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?

Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know (ooh oh)

You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing

You say I am strong when I think I am weak

You say I am held when I am falling short

When I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours

And I believe (I), oh I believe (I)

What You say of me (I)

I believe

Dear Jesus, Thank You another day in paradise! Thank You for blessing me with a loving husband who speaks words of affirmation over me! Thank You for being with my Momma with all she went through yesterday! I pray for all pastors to speak what You desire from the pulpit today. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May people see/hear You through my words, actions, thoughts, and attitude. I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days. My Momma, my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Marion; Cait; Rhonda; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; April; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Mr John; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many dealing with ‘c’ and/or going through treatments…Audrey; Chrissy’s cousin; Shirley Jones; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; Little Roselynn; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff’s husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; Mr Mullett; and Damon. I pray for: the Long family; Becky; Russ; a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues; and Kaytlin’s husband. May You continue to be close to Andy and Sharon with the loss of their daughters. Thank You for continued healing for Pastor Tommy and Pam! Thank You for being My Blesser! Amen.

Psalm 19 - "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)"

I love David's writing in Psalm 19. He speaks of the way sunrise and sunset speak to all who will listen. It takes 'stopping to smell the roses' as Doug is reminding me to do. Sometimes life gets too busy for us to allow ourselves such luxuries. Sometimes life's circumstances cause hurt to our heart and we find ourselves filling up our calendar with 'stuff' just so the hurt doesn't become so overwhelming. The core of this Psalm is found in verses seven through nine.

The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever.
The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.

Praise His Holy Name for this knowledge. Refreshment, wisdom, joy, and direction are gifts to us from the Lord as we allow Him to be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords of our life. It is key we walk in obedience to His will so we can open these gifts as He lavishes them upon us. Verse ten describes them as being more precious than gold...sweeter than honey. These descriptive words give us a wonderful word picture. David writes of how he desired God to keep him from willfully sinning in verse thirteen. Sin is a part of life but the more we seek to be Christ-like the less we will blatantly sin. Verse fourteen is my daily mantra. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and Redeemer. I desire to fulfill the desires of God's heart. Sometimes the desires of His heart are not what I think I want to happen. I have come to realize God's ways are always what is best for me. It takes looking at the big picture to realize this. It takes walking my faith and trusting Him when He directs me to do or say something that doesn't make sense. I am reminded this morning of the song "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" and feeling very blessed.

I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Dear Jesus, Thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace! Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with all Doug and I accomplished and for all that will be accomplished today! Thank You for me finally being able to talk to my Momma on the phone! May You continue to give her what she needs every moment where she is in life. Cleanse me so You can fill me with more of You. May people see/hear You through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray many going through difficult days will call upon You to receive what they need to not only get through life but to glorify You. Thank You for being My Peace! Amen.

Psalm 100 - "Where I Belong"

I love mornings when the birds are singing as the sun comes up. This morning I was reminded of mornings at my grandparents house when I was a little girl. Visits were few and far between but they hold precious memories for me. Laying in bed listening to the creek flow behind the house was something I always enjoyed. Maybe that is why I love the sound of the ocean so much. Having the bedroom window open last night was a true treasure. It doesn't happen often but when the humidity is lower I love opening the windows and airing out the house. I also love having many meals in the Carolina room with Doug. Looking out over the backyard listening to the birds as we eat is so peaceful. The owls and woodpeckers are fun to hear along with Mr. Peacock who is rambunctious from time to time. We live in such a beautiful place. Yesterday morning's walk at sunrise was so enjoyable. Being out in God's nature is my favorite place to be. I am one blessed lady to live in such a place. Psalm 100 comes to my mind this morning. This is a song of thanksgiving. We need to lift our praises to God every day no matter what circumstances we find ourselves. He deserves our praise for all He is in our life. He showers us with blessings every day. Some times we realize the blessings and sometimes not. Verse five of Psalm 100 speaks volumes to me. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation. Yes! He is good! He loves us unconditionally and is faithful. We need to mirror His characteristics. When we do, we will love unconditionally and be faithful in our relationships including our relationship with God. Some days are just plain hard to deal with all of the 'junk' that is thrown at us. Illnesses in ourselves or loved ones, deaths of loved ones, loss of income, increase in daily living expenses, etc. are types of 'junk' we have to deal with while on this earth. We must keep sight on the fact that we are only here temporarily. "Where I Belong" is on my mind this morning...

So when the walls come falling down on me
And when I'm lost in the current of a raging sea
I have this blessed assurance holding me.

All I know is I'm not home yet
This is not where I belong
Take this world and give me Jesus
This is not where I belong

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with starting the day off with a walk with Doug at sunrise! Thank You for the blessings ahead today! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray people will see/hear You through me words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray Your peace over many going through 'junk' in life. Thank You for being My Eternity! Amen.

Isaiah 18-20; Acts 5, 8 - "Blessings"

Last night in Bible study we were discussing the prophecy in Isaiah 18-20. It was so cool to see the prophecy written in Isaiah 18 be fulfilled in Acts 8. I shared how sometimes we plant seeds and never see them come to life while others times God blesses us with seeing them grow. The Holy Spirit was working in Acts 8. Many times we think He isn't working today but when we stop and think about it we see He is. My heart breaks for so many people who are dealing with difficult situations in life. Hearing my Momma scared and confused hurts my heart. Praying for Sharon and Andy and their families with the loss of daughters is heart breaking. Receiving a prayer request for a daughter whose father's health is failing is heart breaking. Praise God for the 'good' things heard yesterday such as a friend who the doctors were sure had breast cancer and it was negative. Woo hoo! I praise God for Doug making it home safely from his trip to Ohio. I praise Him for people who are caring for my Momma. A question asked in last night's study was, 'How is obedience to God prominent in your spiritual life?' Being obedient is a must for me. I know if I want to experience what God has for me I must walk in obedience to Him. We talked last night about expectations. When we expect things from people or even ourselves, we will be disappointed. When we expect things from God, we will be blessed. As Doug and I continue this journey of meshing our lives together we are blessed in abundance with the way God continues to open doors that need opened and closes doors that need closed. He continues to give us direction when we make decisions. I am thankful for the life we have with God. The gift of the Holy Spirit is one that I pray I will never take advantage of. I was reading in Acts 5 of how Peter and the apostles were persecuted for their faith. We do not go through such things as being jailed for our faith here in the United States. Yet. It could happen. I have to think about how strong my faith is and if I will be strong enough to stand up against such persecution if/when it occurs. Acts 5:32 holds the 'secret' to standing up against persecution. It is the Holy Spirit. I like what Matthew Henry says about this verse. The giving of the Holy Ghost, is plain evidence that it is the will of God that Christ should be obeyed. Yes! Obedience to Him is key to living a life on this earth that will lead to a life of eternity with God. When we obey Him, He will reveal Himself to us and bless us in abundance. Sometimes the blessings come in heart aches. Sometimes they come in times when we do not think we can put one foot in front of the other. No matter what God is ready to bless us. I am reminded of Laura Story's words about the song "Blessings." There is a blessedness that comes through waiting on the Lord. There’s an intimacy that comes in our walk with the Lord through walking through that valley. There’s a reliance on His word that we only know when everything else fades away… Woo hoo!

Dear Jesus, Thank you for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for bringing Doug home safely! Thank You for continuing to be with Andy and Sharon with the losses of their daughters! Thank You for the great news of no cancer for Nikki! Thank You for continuing to be with my Momma as she struggles with life and Sally as she finally goes home! Cleanse me so You can fill me. May people see/hear You through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray Your empowerment over many going through difficult days. Thank You for continued healing for Pastor Tommy and Pam! Thank You for being My Authority! Amen.

Jeremiah 31:3b - "For The Love of God"

I woke up this morning to a song Andrew Ripp sings called "For The Love of God" and felt very grateful for His love. “If it wasn’t for my failures and mistakes, I would never know the depths of this grace,” Ripp sings. “Now my heart is beating for heaven’s sake and for the love of God.” None of us would be where we are today if not for God's love. His love covers all our sins and pulls us back into relationship with Him when we walk away. When we feel far away from His love, it is not Him who moved away but us. Life's circumstances can distract us and take our focus off of Him. The enemy walking through doors we leave open takes our focus off of Him. The thing we must always remember is that He loves us no matter what we do or say. He knows the challenges before us and desires to see us draw closer to Him. He desires for us to dig into scripture and be on our knees more praying when challenges come our way. He loves us unconditionally because He is perfect. His love for us is not about what we do but about who He is. I love the words of Jeremiah 31:3 which show restoration. God's unconditional love has been poured out on people since the beginning of time. In Jeremiah He assures His people of His unconditional love by accepting them back into relationship with Him. Matthew Henry writes: Those whom God loves with this love, he will draw to himself, by the influences of his Spirit upon their souls. Praise God for never turning away from us when we turn away from Him! We are loved by Him to fulfill the purpose He has on our life. There will be times we disappoint God with the decisions we make but we will never lose His love. As I reflect on my life I see the time I turned my back on God and am thankful He never gave up on me. I know there are times I miss opportunities He puts before me and yet He still loves me. If He did not love me with an unconditional love, I would not be where I am today. I shudder to think where I would be without Him. My heart breaks for many who refuse to allow Him into their life. It breaks to see people making decisions that do not align with God. As a pastor I need to remember it is not up to me to save people. It is up to me to be the vessel God desires of me to share His love with all. I'm grateful my friend Teri took this picture of Doug and I at Hunting Island Saturday. It represents so much more than a couple walking on the beach. We are walking into our new life together but as we had in our wedding ceremony it is not just the two of us. We have from the beginning of our relationship included God in all decisions made. We did many things 'unconventional' to the world but God was the center of all. I love the symbolism of the three cords Doug braided in our wedding ceremony. The three cords represent: God who is the Authority in our marriage; Doug who is the leader in our marriage; and myself who submits to both God and my husband. Praise His Holy Name!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for my visit with Clay and JoAnn who always are such an encouragment to me! Thank You for Marion doing so well after her hip replacement! Thank You for all Doug accomplished with Roger and for being there for my Momma! Thank You for Tom and Cheryl taking dinner over to my Momma! I pray for answers today with her care. Cleanse me so You can fill me. May You flow out of my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days to realize Your love in a greater way. I also pray healing prayers over many dealing with ‘c’ and/or going through treatments…Audrey; Katelyn; Chrissy’s cousin; Shirley Jones; Cait’s friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; Little Roselynn; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff’s husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; Mr Mullett; and Damon. I pray for: the Long family; Becky; Russ; Sharon Foor and her family; a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues; and Kaytlin’s husband. Thank You for continued healing for Pastor Tommy and Pam! Thank You for being My Authority! Amen.

Psalm 69 - "Worn"

God woke me this morning with the song "Worn" on my heart and directed me to read Psalm 69. I love when He starts my day in this way.

I’m Tired I’m worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
I’ve made mistakes
I’ve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Life can be overwhelming. Some days it just seems like one thing hits after another to the point you feel like you can't even breathe. There are days where it seems like everything you do or say is wrong. You upset people. You feel like you've lost your best friend when in fact your best friend is always there for you. God needs to be our best friend. He needs to be who we turn to in good times and in 'tough' times. David's writing of Psalm 69 is what anyone could write on any given day. He is in distress and ready to give up. He begins the Psalm with lamenting and ends the Psalm with praise. This shows a relationship with God we all can experience as we allow God to be our King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Matthew Henry writes of verses thirteen and fifteen: Whatever deep waters of affliction or temptation we sink into, whatever floods of trouble or ungodly men seem ready to overwhelm us, let us persevere in prayer to our Lord to save us. The tokens of God's favour to us are enough to keep our spirits from sinking in the deepest outward troubles. If we think well of God, and continue to do so under the greatest hardships, we need not fear but he will do well for us. God is there for us at all time to empower us through the 'junk' of life. He is there when people turn away. He is there when life seems to throw one thing after another at us. He is there when we feel like we can'f put one foot in front of another. He encourages us in ways only He can. This week's sermon focuses on divine appointments. As I was crafting the sermon I thought about many divine appointments God has given me. Being woke up in the middle of the night to pray for someone without knowing why only to find out later the reason is a divine appointment I cherish. The person I prayed for was blessed in knowing God had me praying. I was blessed in knowing God used me to walk in obedience. God doesn't need our prayers. He knows the outcome of all circumstances. Such times are for our benefit to cement our faith and trust in God into place. David shows relationship with God in Psalm 69 in a way all need to live. He knows God listens when he laments. He knows God understands the hurts of our heart and is there to empower us through such times. My prayer list is long and growing every day with people who are hurting physically, mentally, emotionally, relationally, financially, and spiritually. May prayer is God will use me to make a difference in their life. As Doug and I sat at Hunting Island Saturday I thought about my relationship with God. I heard the waves crashing and thought about the times in life when I became overwhelmed with circumstances of life. God quickly reminded me He was right there with me in every circumstance as the sun/Son shined down on me. Praise His Holy Name! I pray for those going through difficult days to receive that same hope.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with more getting accomplished at the house, my visit with Sierra and Marybeth, Cait stopping by, and Doug having safe travels! Thank You for the day ahead as I continue to live out Your will! Cleanse me so You can fill me. May people see/hear You through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray for many going through 'tough' days to receive hope from You. Thank You for being My Best Friend! Amen.

Isaiah 43:2 - "I Am Not Alone"

My heart is breaking for parents going through terminal illnesses with their children and for those who have watched their children leave this earth. It is hard to do with any loved one but to go through such things with your child would be agonizing. You would want it to be you instead of them going through the pain and agony. I'm sure you would pray for them to stay on earth yet at the same time pray for mercy for them to be out of their pain. I can't imagine all of the emotions one goes through no matter if their child is young or old. I remember being distraught when Paul had meningitis and was hospitalized at the age of eleven months. I was a young Mom scared of losing her son. I prayed for God to heal him and He did but the outcome could have been so much different. I remember praying many times for Doc to be healed while on this earth. He received his healing with the ultimate healing of going to be with Jesus. I remember praying for God to have mercy over my Daddy in his last days on this earth. So, so many times my prayers have been selfish because I did not want to see loved ones leave me. This morning as I prayed for safe travels for Doug the tears started. The 'what ifs?' came to my mind. 'What if he is in an accident and never comes back? What will I do if I lose him? How will I survive another loss?' God brought to my mind the words found in Isaiah 43:2. He reminded me He has been with me through many times of difficulty. The first word of this verse tells us we will have 'tough' days but He will be with us through them. It does not say 'if' but 'when' we have trying times He will be there for us. Praise His Holy Name! No matter what is ahead God is in control. He will provide exactly what we need to not just thought 'tough' days but to glorify Him through them. Woo hoo! Kari Jobe sings a song called "I Am Not Alone" that blesses me immensely....

When I walk through deep waters

I know that You will be with me

When I'm standing in the fire

I will not be overcome

Through the valley of the shadow

I will not fear

I am not alone

I am not alone

You will go before me

You will never leave me...

Dear Jesus, Thank You for another great Sunday filled with love from my church family, laughter and making memories with Doug, and a sense of great contentment! Thank You for staying close to Sharon with the loss of Ashley from this earth and Andy and his family with Katelyn's situation! Thank You for going before Doug and providing safe travels! I pray You will bring him home safely. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray for: the Long family; Becky; Russ; a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues; and Kaytlin’s husband. Thank You for continued healing for Pastor Tommy and Pam! Thank You for being My Constant! Amen.
