Hebrews 13:8 - "My God Is Still The Same"

Yesterday's time at Robert Smalls Academy with the "Giving Project" blessed me in abundance. Seeing the children's smiles when I explained the process of them 'buying' a gift for their parents, grandparents, etc. with their 'Santa bucks' was priceless. I love how the teachers not only know the children but know the parents. That was very evident as they helped the children pick out gifts. It was amazing that about sixty children shopped and had their two gifts wrapped in an hour. The time flies by so fast but is so rewarding. I am so thankful for my ladies who participate in this project and show Jesus' love to not only the children but the teachers too. That is what life should be about. Being Jesus to a hurting world. Showing kindness over all. Sharing a smile in the chaos of this world. Speaking life over all we meet. None of these things cost one little penny yet they can make an impact for life. Investing into people is what God desires of us. We do not have to know what people are going through to love them with Jesus' love. We do not have to know the particulars of a request to pray. We need to be in relationship with God so when He speaks we not only hear Him but we walk in obedience to His will. Last night I had an unexpected opportunity to go to Land's End for sunset. As I walked and picked up shells I thought about how God makes each of the shells unique just as He makes us unique. He knows what the waves tossing them about will do to them just as He knows what the 'waves of life' do to us. The brilliance of the sunset is designed by Him with a purpose only known by Him. As I took this picture of the sunsetting through the trees I thought about how each picture I take captures only a moment in time. That is how life is. It is full of snapshots of bits and pieces of our life. There will be different people throughout our life we make memories with and do life together. Our circumstances will change. Our attitude will change. Life changes but God remains the same. His love for us never quits. When we fall, He is there to pick us up. When we do not do as He desires, He shows us mercy and grace. Praise His Holy Name! I am reminded of the words to a song Sanctus Real sings called "My God Is Still The Same"...

Just ask the waves
If they are stilled at the mention of His name
They'll say my God is still the same
Ask the walls
If they still fall at the mighty sound of praise
They'll say my God is still the same

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with the "Giving Project" at the school! Thank You for Nancy, Rhonda, Carol, and Pastor Cait who poured Your love into the children and teachers! Thank You for each contact made yesterday to build Your Kingdom! Thank You for the opportunities You will put before me today to be You to others! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray for Pastor Nancy, Coach Mike, and Andy who are having medical procedures today. May they all experience Your peace. I pray peace over many going through difficult days. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Rhonda; Jack; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Amber; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Serena and her husband; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Chrissy's cousin; Shirley Jones; Preacher Bill Watts; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; Little Roselynn; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff's husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; and a young lady awaiting cancer testing. I pray for: Sherry and her family, Joyce and her family, the Long Family, Becky, Russ, a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, and Darryle and his family. I pray for a father with a prodigal daughter to know You have not left him. Matthew 6; Luke 1:38 - "Kingdom"

Sometimes I catch myself praying selfish prayers. Ones like 'God, please let such and such happen...' or 'God, please put an obstacle in the way of...' when they are what I desire and not necessarily what God desires. We need to pray for His will at all time. If we follow the example of prayer He gives us in Matthew 6, we will pray for His will to be done, on earth as in heaven. When we walk in obedience to His will, the desires of our heart will align with the desires of His heart. Sometimes distractions come before us that take our focus off of Him. Distractions can be 'good' in the sense they can take the focus off of our own problems. They also can be 'bad' when we allow the enemy an open door to pull us away from God. The schedule/calendar is a perfect example of being a 'good' and 'bad distraction. When we are going through 'tough' days, filling up our time can help get through such time yet it also can stop us from focusing on what God desires of us. When we are stressed over life, God is the only way we will have victory. When it seems like life is overwhelming, He is the only way to walk in peace. When I was crafting Sunday's sermon, I was blessed with one point that says 'joy is trusting when you want to doubt.' We doubt in our humanness but we trust in our spiritualness. One of the things God brought out in the sermon is I don't have to do everything for everyone. It is not possible. What I do need to do is to allow Him to speak so I know what He desires of me. I also need to allow Him to take care of the 'heavy lifting' in situations. Trusting Him is key. Mary's words in Luke 1:38 are ones we all need to embrace. They read in The MessageI’m the Lord’s maid, ready to serve. Let it be with me just as you say. Trusting God may not seem 'easy' but it definitely is rewarding. When the emotions take over and the tears fall, He knows our humanness and is there to encourage us. He does that through His Word, people, songs, etc. Sometimes my emotional tank runs low and I am thankful for His filling. A walk out in nature, snuggles with one of my little friends watching a movie, hearing a song on the radio, and this time of year plugging in my Christmas tree to see the beauty of the lights are all ways my tank gets filled. I love a song Maverick City sings called "Kingdom"...

Thine is the Kingdom
The power the glory
Forever and ever
He finished my story
We're singing freedom
Our testimony
We'll be singing forever, amen
We'll be singing forever and ever, amen

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for filling up my emotional tank in so many ways! I am so blessed to have so many people in my life who truly care about me. Texts, calls, visits, hugs, etc. encourage me greatly. Father, I know I prayed for the doctor to give me prednisone to get the MS back to 'normal' but goodness my emotions are all over the place while on it. I pray against the side effects and continue to pray for healing. I look fine so no one understands what I am dealing with in my body but I am encouraged by those You put in my path. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May You flow from my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts today. I pray for the Giving Project to touch many lives as we minister to the little ones. I also pray for strength for the ladies and I. I continue to pray for strength for my Momma. I pray the transfusion yesterday will help her with the weakness. I pray Your peace and joy over many going through 'tough' days. My sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Rhonda; Jack; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Amber; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Serena and her husband; and many others. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My Will! Amen.

Psalm 77:11-12; Philippians 4:6-8 - "Into the Sea"

Peace...sweet peace...complete peace. This week's sermon challenge is to focus on Philippians 4:6-8. Paul encourages us to not be anxious but instead to pray and allow God to pour His peace down over us. He also encourages us to focus on positives so the enemy does not have an open door in our life. I said Sunday the sermon was for me just as much if not more than for anyone else. Sunday was a chaotic day where it seemed like everything went wrong that could but I know that is not true. It could have been a lot worse and I need to thank God for being with me every step of the day. I need to praise Him for the strength He continues to provide physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and most of all spiritually. Yesterday talking with the neurologist brought back lots of memories of past times where the MS was going crazy. I am thankful this is just a little bump in the road and I am still functioning physically. I shared with Marlene and Jim last night if I have to live with the tingling in my face/head for the rest of my life I know I can because God is my strength. I pray the prednisone will kick it back into behaving itself but if it doesn't I will deal with what is ahead. None of us know what is ahead from one day to the next but when you deal with a disease life can be even more challenging. It seems like many are going through challenges right now not only with physical issues but many with relationship issues. I have talked with many struggling with the holidays. I spoke with one lady yesterday who told me she always has her tree up and house decorated by now but it has not happened. There is nothing major going on in her life but she is struggling to get into the holiday spirit. It made me think about the last two years. I struggled with the holidays in 2019 'knowing' they would be our last with Doc on this earth without a miracle happening in his life. I struggled in 2020 with him and Mordecei no longer with me and having the contraption on my arm from my fall. I struggled in 2021 with Rickey getting COVID and dying. Yesterday when the doctor asked me if I had anything traumatic happen six to eight weeks ago to set this tingling off I chuckled. Not in the last six to eight weeks but I sure have over the last few years and the MS did not show it's ugliness. It just does not make sense. But it does not have to make sense to me because God knows the reason behind it. When she talked about the possibility of my medication no longer working, I almost went into a panic. I do not want to even think about changing medications but God quickly reminded me He knows what is ahead and everything will be ok. I am reminded of a song Paul shared with me right after Doc died called "Into The Sea"...

Though the mountains may be moved into the sea
Though the ground beneath might crumble and give way
I can hear my Father singing over me
"It's gonna be OK, it's gonna be OK"

Yes! It will be OK no matter what when we allow God to be the King of Kings and Lord of Lords of our life. I know I do not always do everything the way He desires and I miss opportunities He puts before me but He still loves me and for that I am thankful. He reminded me this morning through Psalm 77:11-12 that He has been with me every step of my life and will continue to give me exactly what I need every day. Woo hoo!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for the prednisone that is going to kick the MS back to behaving itself! Thank You for being with my Momma today as she has another blood transfusion! Thank You for being with so many people going through difficult times. I pray for Joyce and her family with the loss of her sister. May You continue to be so very close to them. I pray for another friend who needs to hear from You on decisions she is making in her new life. I also pray for those struggling with relationship issues to seek Your will. I pray Your peace over them and over many dealing with physical, emotional, financial, and most of all spiritual issues. I pray for: the Long Family, Becky, Russ, a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, and Darryle and his family. I pray for a father with a prodigal daughter to know You have not left him. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My OK Maker! Amen.

Isaiah 9:6 - "Peace"

One of my favorite days of the year is the day of the Beaufort Christmas parade. It is a day of such fun with my church family. I remember the first one the only ones I knew along the parade route outside of my church family were Amy and the boys I babysat and Ellsworths. As the years went by other faces became known. There is nothing better than being out in public and hearing my name to turn around and see someone I know. Those times make me feel at home. With being raised in the same town for forty years that was my normal. Spending fifteen years in a smaller town became my norm to know everyone. Moving to Beaufort was hard in that respect and I am so thankful God made this feel like home from the start. Yesterday getting hugs from all three of my Ferreira boys was priceless. Hearing 'Ms Sheila!' from Miss Everly put a smile on my face. God blessed me in abundance yesterday and for that I am grateful. Yesterday morning was challenging in many ways with things not 'going right.' I had to think of the sermon where God reminded us it is through such challenges that our faith will grow. We can, and will, receive His peace during such times when we allow Him to be our Prince of Peace. The week ahead is full of activities and things I 'want' to get accomplished. But I do not want to miss anything God has for me along the way. I want to stay focused on Him so I can bask in His peace. I also want to stay focused on Him so I can not only hear His voice but walk in obedience to it. Mondays can be challenging in themselves with having some Mondays feeling so tired from the weekend. Tiredness can be a distraction but I don't want it to be one that pulls me from God. Today's neurologist appointment can also be a distraction as I pray for relief from this tingling in my head. Once again, I do not want it to be be a distraction that takes my focus off God. The Advent song Pastor Cait and I sang to open yesterday's service is on my mind this morning...

When my mind is like a battlefield

And my heart is overcome by fear

And hope seems like a ship that′s lost at sea

My enemies on every side

And I'm tempted to run and hide

Your gentle whisper reaches out to me

Peace Holds me when I′m broken

Sweet peace That passes understanding

When the whole wide world is crashing down

I fall to my knees

And breathe in Your peace

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for Your peace when things 'don't go right'! Thank You for my church family who make such things as the Christmas parade so much fun! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray for the distractions of life to not so great that I miss something You have for me in the day ahead. I pray for answers at my neurologist appointment. I pray Your peace over many going through 'tough' days. My Momma, my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Rhonda; Jack; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Amber; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Serena and her husband; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Chrissy's cousin; Shirley Jones; Preacher Bill Watts; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff's husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; and a young lady awaiting cancer testing. Thank You for being My Prince of Peace! Amen.

Matthew 12; James 1:19 - "Speak Life"

The first thing I did when waking up was to pray for pastors who will be preaching today. I specifically prayed for those who are discouraged. The Lord took me to Matthew 12 where Jesus talked about our words. We will all be accountable on Judgement Day for every word we speak. This accountability is not just for pastors but for everyone. Do we speak harshly or gently? Do we speak truth or not? Do we speak with God's authority or allow the enemy to have control over our words? Do we affirm others with our words or tear them down? Do we speak words of beauty or words of ugliness? We need to think before we speak. That is not always easy because at times we speak in the heat of the moment. James 1:19 tells us we should be slow to speak. We need to think before speaking. I had a situation this past week where I felt like I was not the one responding to a person but instead the Holy Spirit took over. Confirmation was receive by them on a couple things through His words. That blessed my heart. Many times as we listen to people we are thinking of the next thing we are going to say instead of truly listening. God desires us to listen. He desires us to allow Him to speak through us. The biggest blessing in life is when we "Speak Life" over people. We all need to "Speak Life" to all we meet so we encourage people through our words.

So speak life, speak life.
To the deadest darkest night.
Speak life, speak life.
When the sun won't shine and you don't know why.
Look into the eyes of the broken-hearted;
Watch them come alive as soon as you speak hope,
You speak love, you speak...
You speak life, you speak life.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for speaking words of life over me which empowers me to speak words of life over others! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May I affirm others through my words in a new, different way today. I pray for those going through difficult days to have someone before them today to "Speak Life" over them. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Chrissy's cousin; Shirley Jones; Preacher Bill Watts; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; my friend with pancreatic cancer; Sue Danhoff's husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; and a young lady awaiting cancer testing. Thank You for being My Life Giver! Amen.

Psalm 14:1a - "Same God"

Last night as I looked through the trees at the sunset I stopped to think about how people do not believe in God. Where do they think such things as a beautful sunset comes from? How can they explain the beauty of His creation? It blows my mind to think there are people who do not believe in Him yet I know there are many. I also know there are many who claim to not believe in Him yet they will say things like 'I was raised in the church so I know what the Bible says about Him.' I hear that often. I think they believe in His existence but choose to not follow Him or be in relationship with Him. It saddens my heart to think about people not being in relationship with God. I do not know where I would be without Him. I praise Him throughout my days for not only major things but the little things in life. Last night I was already back on Lady's Island when an accident happened that caused travelers grief. I thanked God for changing my schedule so I was not involved in the mess. Yesterday when Marion was able to transport from the wheelchair to her recliner easier than Tuesday I thanked God for her strength. I thanked God as I snuggled and watched a Christmas movie with one of my little guys last night. Sometimes I thank Him in advance of prayers being answered because I know they will be answered in His time. An example of this is the way I keep thanking Him for stopping the MS tingling in my head/face. This morning's tingling on my chin is driving me crazy but I can't focus on it. If I do, I may miss an opportunity He puts before me. This morning I have a song Hannah Kerr sings called "Same God" on my mind. It reminds me the "Same God" who showed off with a beautiful sunset last night is the "Same God" who knows about my tingling.

The same God who makes the planets spin
Tells the tide when it should rise
Put the color in my eyes
The same God who makes the seasons change
Knows the number of the stars
Every secret in my heart
All my doubts, all my questions
In every fear I have about what might happen
You're the same God
You're with me in the middle of it all, God
You're catching every tear as it falls
I know You'll never change

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! I pray for safe travels for Cait and I as we go to the district event. Thank You for the safe travel You provided for Bob and Beth! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May You ooze out of my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts in a mighty way today. May people see/hear You instead of me. I pray Your strength over many going through 'tough' days. Thank You for being My Same God! Amen.

John 16:13 - "Goodness of God"

I am so grateful for the beauty of God's creation. When I am in it, I feel closer to Him. It seems like conversations with Him go deeper when I am outside. He speaks through the wind blowing the leaves, the waves in the ocean, the scent of the flowers, etc. I am one blessed lady to live in such a beautiful place. I told my Momma our trees look like Ohio trees in October right now. It is so hard to believe the calendar changed over to December today. Days are busy with holiday activities but I continue to pray I do not miss anything God has in store for me. This week I have experienced some pretty terrific times with the Holy Spirit speaking to me. The other day while talking with a friend the Holy Spirit confirmed some things to her through me. What a privilege to be a vessel for such activity. Yesterday in the middle of the afternoon He directed me to pray for some friends and then told me to tell them so I did. The response was overwhelming. They were on a call about his job and the corporate person had just ended the call with "I'm praying for you guys" at the same time I messaged them that I was praying for them. God knows what we need and provides. This encouraged my heart greatly and also encouraged them. It is a win-win situation when we listen and walk in obedience to Him. Both of these situations gave me the Holy Spirit goosebumps. I love how God works in and through me. I know I miss opportunities He puts before me but I strive to not. I strive to allow Him to mold me into who He desires me to be. The other day when I took this picture of the green bananas I thought about the process of their growth. They begin as small green bananas and grow into larger yellow fruit. If they are not consumed in a timely manner, they will become rotten. If they are not handled properly, they will become bruised. Even when bruised they are still good to eat. Even when they become rotten they are still usable to make bread, cakes, etc. I thought about how we are like bananas. We go through different stages of life and are usable by God in all stages. Some bananas are delicious while others are not as sweet. The same can be said about us. We may not always have the disposition God desires of us but He still loves us and desires to use us to further His Kingdom. Some days my attitude may not be where it needs to be due to circumstances I am dealing with yet God does not give up on me. I am so grateful for the way He loves me and gives me grace and mercy. I am grateful for the way He uses me whether in a 'good' state or showing some bruises. I am grateful for His voice that leads me and am grateful for the times I am in tune with Him to not only hear His voice but to walk in obedience to it. This morning I am reminded of the words of "Goodness of God" and feeling very blessed...

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
And in darkest night You are close like no other
I've known You as a Father
I've known You as a Friend
And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the way You spoke through something as simple as bananas! Thank You for the Holy Spirit goosebumps I have received through some interactions with friends over the last few days! Thank You for Andy who built the stable for the parade! Thank You for another day of life ahead! May I not miss anything You have for me. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days. My Momma, my sisters Linda with the death of a sister-in-law, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Rhonda; Jack; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Amber; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Serena and her husband; and many others. Thank You for being My Goodness! Amen.
