I Peter 5:7 - "Sparrows"

Thank You Jesus for getting me through a 'tough' MS day yesterday! Thank You for all of the people who prayed for me! Thank You for a great day at church. for the person who bought my lunch, and for the three hour nap You provided! I woke up this morning with the song "Sparrows" going through my mind and thought how appropriate!

'Cause You take good care of me
You take good care of me
You know what I need before I even ask a thing
And You hold me in Your hands
With a kindness that never ends
I'm carried in Your love no matter what the future brings
Yeah, You take good care of me

I just had the conversation with my Momma Saturday about how we do not need to worry about the 'what ifs' but instead need to relax in God. He knows what is ahead and will provide what we need. I am thankful her pain lessened a bit. I know it is going to be a long time until she can get into the orthopedic doctor and I pray protection over her hip until then. Yesterday as I was hit so much with MS 'junk' I could have had the thoughts of what if this never goes away but I didn't. I know God is in control. I know He could stop it at any time. I know there is a reason for it. Plain and simple. I know. God takes such good care of me. This morning as I listen to the birds singing I am blessed to know God takes care of every one of His creations. He loves each one so much. His love for us shows through the way He cares for us. We are to reflect His love through our words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. The only way that can happen is for us be full of Him. I ask Him every day to cleanse me so He can fill me. I know that is the only way I can be who He desires me to be.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being with me yesterday in such a mighty way! I knew I could not 'do' what You have called me to do without Your intervention. Thank You for being with me in the day ahead! This tingling in my head drives me crazy but I am kind of used to it and will glorify You though the day. Thank You for the internal shakes and nausea subsiding! Thank You for being Who You are in my life! Thank You for Darrel and Kayla being there to hug me when I got the news of my friend Pastor Todd passing! He was such a dear friend to Doc and I and after Doc's passing he checked on me regularly. I know the angels are rejoicing but  this is another one I wonder 'why?' with all the good work he was doing on this earth for You. I pray there will be someone to step up to make a difference in the lives of those addicted and miserable. Thank You for continuing to be with Little Judson and Little Ivy and their families as they await test results! Thank You for being with many going through 'tough' days! My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Pastor Sam; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda's family; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Timmy; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Doug and Gay; Patty's daughter Tracy; Sharon's daughter Ashley and niece Amy; Chrissy's cousins; Debbie's husband Kelly; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Patti Perkins; Tammie; Betty's friend in New York'; my friend diagnosed with mesothelioma; and my friend going through tests. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Baby Henry, Christina and her family, and Karl Stein. I pray for all our military and their families to lean into Your strength. Thank You Lord for being with Anna, Michael, Matt, and myself in these days without my Rickey with us. Yesterday as I was going through all the MS junk I thought of how he was so concerned when I had shakies. I can still hear him say, 'I love you Sheila Girl and wish I were there with you.' Me too. Thank You for being The One Who Cares For Me! Amen.

Romans 8:14-17 - "Heart of the Father"

Last night was a typical Saturday night with praying for pastors before going to bed, during the night, and again this morning. I don't know how many years I have been doing this but it took on a special meaning when I became a pastor myself. We experience 'good' days often in ministry and praise God for them. We also experience 'tough' days and need to praise Him for those too. It is through the 'tough' times of life that our relationship with Him deepens and our faith grows. We learn to trust Him more through such times. When I was awake during the night and again this morning the words to "Heart of the Father" are going through my mind.

Jesus, Your name is power
It's breath and living water
And Your Spirit guides me
To the heart of the Father

Let your praise ring louder everyday and every hour
'Cause Your Spirit guides me
To the heart of the Father

Yes! As we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us we will experience what the Father desires of us. Paul wrote in the book of Romans chapter eight about a life with Christ living in our heart. Salvation is the first step in a life with Christ. When we take the next step and allow Him to be in charge of our entire life, we will realize a different life with Him. I pray every day for God to cleanse me so He can fill me. I desire to not miss any opportunity He puts before me. That is less likely to happen when I am focused on Him.

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with all the ways You filled my tank! Thank You once again for the privilege to pray for pastors before going to bed, during the night, and again this morning! May we all strive to live with You in our heart so we can be who You have called us to be. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. Father, I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; the Pottenger Family; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Pastor Sam; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda's family; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Timmy; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Doug and Gay; Patty's daughter Tracy; Sharon's daughter Ashley and niece Amy; Chrissy's cousins; Debbie's husband Kelly; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Patti Perkins; Tammie; Little Ivy and Dorothy's grandson with leukemia; Betty's friend in New York'; my friend diagnosed with mesothelioma; and my friend going through tests. Yesterday as I walked at the waterfront listening to the Army and Marine bands I thought about how much he would have enjoyed it. When I saw couples, I prayed for them to realize what they have in their relationship and for You to be in the center of it. I am so grateful for the time You gave me with my Rickey and for all he taught me. Thank You for being My Heavenly Father! Amen.

Isaiah 43 - "God Is Good"

God gave me Isaiah 43:19 for three young ladies this week. They all three are going through changes in life. They are experiencing things they have never experienced before. In verse eighteen Isaiah tells the Israelites to not look at the past but to focus on the future. If our past is full of failures and discouragement, we will continue to experience the same if we dwell on them. In verses sixteen and seventeen Isaiah encourages the Israelites to look at what God has done for them such as the parting of the Red Sea. The lesson to be learned is to remember the good things God has done and not dwell on the bad things you or others have done. As we live in this manner God will reveal great things in our life. In verse nineteen God asks, Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? In today's world this is when the Holy Spirit asks, “Will you stay in step with My Spirit? When He leads into something new, shall you not know it?” (Guzik) This picture was taken the morning of my ordination. I was struggling emotionally and started crying. My church Annabelle comforted me and cried with me. I knew God was doing a new thing in my life but it was think I would walk down the aisle alone. I am grateful I had the privilege to walk down the aisle with Doc in 2000 when he was ordained. I am grateful for the way God restored my relationship with Him when I fell away. I am grateful for the love and prayers of my tribe. Plain and simple. I am grateful. God made a road in the wilderness for the Israelites just as He continues to make a road in the wilderness of widowhood for me. He provided for the Israelites in many ways just as He continues to provide for me. I praise Him for His faithfulness. Verse seven of this chapter reads, They shall declare My praise. That is exactly what I desire to do every day. I want Him to be glorified through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. This chapter prophesied of deliverance for Israel but most importantly it is speaking of the deliverance we receive by God. It is only in Him that we will receive victory over anything that happens on this earth. I am praying for the three ladies God gave me this verse. I am praying they realize victory in the situations they are dealing with and praise God through the 'junk' they have to go through to receive such victory. The words to a song Francesca Battistelli sings called "God Is Good" have been on my mind lately...

Joy comes
Tears fall
I'm learning there is beauty in it all
It's not hard to find it
You just have to look
Oh, God is good

Dear Jesus, I pray for these three young ladies You gave me Isaiah 23:19 for this week to have victory in You. Thank You for the opportunity for me to be in their lives! Thank You for continuing to be with me on this journey of widowhood! Thank You for cleansing me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You! May people see/hear You in my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts today. Thank You for Pam who took care of my Momma's needs yesterday! Lord, continue to be with those who are struggling. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; the Pottenger Family; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Pastor Sam; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda's family; Kristen Batten; Timmy; and many others. Some days are just harder than others. Thank You for the way You keep us in communication with one another! Thank You for being My Joy! Amen.

Psalm 27:13; Psalm 28 - "Still"

This is the second time this week God had me pondering upon Psalm 28. Sometimes I wonder if I missed something the first time. Other times I think there is a message He wants to make sure I receive. No matter what the reason I am here in this Psalm today. I love to see David crying out to God and praising Him for answering His prayers. Yesterday as I read the story of Bathsheba I was reminded of how David did not always do as his Heavenly Father desired. He knew the importance of repentance and living for the Lord. There were times David prayed and felt like his prayers were not heard. God always hears our prayers. Sometimes He answers them quickly while other times it takes a while. The last verse of the previous chapter in Psalm reads: Wait for the Lordbe strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. When we pray, we must wait on His timing for our answer. We also must be willing to accept His answer. Sometimes it is what we desire and other times not. The bottom line is His answer is always best for us. We may not understand it but He knows what is best and provides. We also need to praise Him no matter what the answer to our prayers. David did just that. We see him praising God in verses six and seven. Morgan wrote, “Suddenly the prayer becomes a song of praise, an act of adoration.”  No matter the answer we need to praise God. I think of the prayers I sent up for healing in both Doc and my Rickey. They received the ultimate healing when God had them take their last breath on this earth. It was not the healing I desired but it was a healing. I had to realize God did answer my prayers in both situations. I also praised God for both of them no longer being in pain/misery in their earthly bodies. David was in the position to praise Him through trusting Him. David's testimony shows his love for God. He knew God would answer his prayers and waited. He expected an answer and received. We need to live in this same manner. I am reminded this morning of a song Hilary Scott sings called "Still"....

You're parting waters
Making a way for me
You're moving mountains that I don't even see
You've answered my prayer before I even speak
All You need for me to be is still

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for my time with Marion yesterday! Lord, I pray against her pain. Thank You for being with me today with all this tingling in my head! I pray against it but until it settles down I ask for Your strength to get through it. Cleanse me so You can fill me. May people see/hear You instead of me today. I pray for many going through 'tough' days to feel Your presence. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; the Pottenger Family; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda's family; Kristen Batten; Timmy; and many others. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Baby Henry, and Karl Stein. I pray for all our military and their families to lean into Your strength. Thank You Lord for being with Anna, Michael, Matt, and myself in these days without my Rickey with us. As I took my walk last night I thought about how much he would enjoy this weather. I thought about when he was here and I went to see Marion he would go to the waterfront to walk, talk with people, and enjoy my happy place. Oh how I miss doing life with him. Thank You for being My Prayer Answerer! Amen.

Psalm 66 - "Heart of the Father"

God took me to Psalm 66 this morning. This is a great reminder that we need to not only praise God through our circumstances but we need to share our praises with others. He will be glorified through our praises. Woo hoo! I have much to praise God for as I begin another day of life. He woke me up. He put a song on my heart and gave me Scripture to ponder upon. As of right this moment the tingling in my face has calmed down. The sun is shining and it is to be eighty degrees today. I know He is going to give me opportunities to love with His love today. Last night's Bible study had great insight. My list goes on and on. I could type all day and never be finished with the blessings God gives me. I know when I pray He not only hears my prayers but listens to them. I also know He knows what is on my heart even before I speak it. Praying is not for His benefit but for our benefit. When I pray for someone and the prayer is answered in the manner I desire, I praise Him. When the prayer is answered in a different way, I praise Him. Losing a dear lady yesterday who kept in contact with me since our move was heart breaking for me and many others who she meant so much to. But it also was a joy in knowing she is with our Heavenly Father. After I got over the initial cry I thought about how her and Doc loved to sit and chat. In fact, they could do it for hours at a time if they were allowed. I had the thought yesterday of the two of them up in heaven chatting away with no time constraints. That turned my tears into  joyous ones. I am reminded of the song "Heart of the Father" that Ryan Ellis sings...

Jesus, Your name is power, it’s breath and living water
And Your Spirit guides me to the heart of the Father
Let Your praise ring louder every day and every hour
'Cause Your Spirit guides me to the heart of the Father

I desire to praise Him 24/7. I know I need to get better at it and I also know the more I praise Him the closer I will be in relationship with Him. I am so thankful to have Him guiding me in this world so I can spend eternity with Him. I also am thankful even when I mess up or miss an opportunity He gives me He does not give up on me. Woo hoo!

Dear Jesus, Thank You for such a blessed day yesterday and for the day ahead! May I make You proud of me. Cleanse me so You can fill me with more of You. May You shine brightly through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. May people see/hear You instead of me. Lord, there are so many people going through 'tough' days. I pray they will praise You through them. I know he is enjoying life with You but oh how I miss him. Thank You for being My Guide! Amen.

John 15:9-11 - "Life"

Last night as I finished the sermon God gave me for Sunday I paused to think about the call God put on my life. The first time He shared my call with me I was thrilled to find out I was going to be a Chaplain. Many people think it is weird but I am comfortable in the hospital setting especially at the end of life. Yesterday as I visited and prayed with a dear friend I was so blessed to know God called me. A few years after He called me to be a Chaplain He told me that was only going to be a part of my call. His call upon my life was to be a Shepherd and preach. I am sure He chuckled when I argued with Him about going to Bible college for this call. I remember saying, 'but God why would I go to school to preach when Doc is the preacher in the house.' Fast forward to September 4, 2020 when Doc left this earth. Soon after the church asked me to be their pastor. Wow, God! We never know what is in the future but when we know Him we can be assured it is taken care of. I remember in spring of 2019 before Doc's diagnosis we went to Tennessee for the gathering of those going to be ordained. I still did not understand all the particulars of my path but walked in obedience. Doc had not been diagnosed yet even though we knew something was going on in his body. Fast forward to June of 2020. He laid in the back seat on a special mattress we bought for such trips for him and went with me to my ordination interview. I was so happy he was with me and we both looked forward to him being with me for ordination. We did not know if he would be strong enough to walk me down the aisle but I told him a wheelchair would be fine. We both were disappointed when the service was postponed due to COVID. Those last months he ordered on-line my Bible, a dress, and shoes for my 'big' day. There was a point he told me he needed to write in my Bible and I knew he was thinking his days were numbered. Fast forward to July 2021 to when I had my ordination interview with the General Superintendent. Once again, things were different due to COVID. It was on zoom with all of the ordinands together. I remember being apprehensive with not knowing what to expect. I was thankful God had my Rickey here for a visit so when it was over I had him to talk to. It was also a blessing that he picked out my coverlet to wear over the dress Doc bought. July 19, 2021 was my ordination day. I remember thinking I would do the ugly tears walking down the aisle without Doc but instead God gave me joy in my spirit which put a smile on my face. It was like I had come full circle from the moment God called me to be a Shepherd. Fast forward to today. I am so blessed to be the pastor of the Beaufort Church of the Nazarene. They love me well and put up with me being a first-time lead pastor. I am sure they get tired of hearing me say, 'because that is how Pastor Doc wanted it' when it comes to building stuff. I am also sure they think I am crazy at times but I am thankful they know I do nothing without God's direction. I say it all the time. I am one blessed lady. I am living the 'rich life' as Beckah Shae's song "Life" speaks of...

More than I could expect
Anticipate or imagine
Oh, I'm willing to believe
Amazing things are still happening

I'm gonna live the rich life
The full and blessed life
So if y'all know what I mean
Put your hands up and declare with me, yeah
Love in full effect, chaim

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the trip down memory lane of the call You have on my life! Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for the rest You provided last evening and for finishing Sunday's sermon! Father, cleanse me so You can fill me so I can be who You desire of me. I pray for peace for many going through 'tough' days. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; the Pottenger Family; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda; Kristen Batten; Timmy; my friend in the hospital; and many others. I know you put him in my life for a season and for that I am grateful. Thank You for being My Rich Life! Amen.

Psalm 28 - "In The House"

Before I went to sleep last night the Lord had me read Psalm 28. The words were on my mind this morning when I awoke along with a song Crowder sings called "In The House." I asked the Lord what He wanted me to receive from this Scripture and song. Verses seven through nine in the New Living Translation reads:

The Lord is my strength and shield.
I trust him with all my heart.
He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.
I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

The Lord gives his people strength.

He is a safe fortress for his anointed king.

Save your people!

    Bless Israel, your special possession.

Lead them like a shepherd,

and carry them in your arms forever.

The song starts with these words...

Good morning
Has it been a long night
Maybe been a long year, maybe been a hard life
Maybe you're not alright
If you got a little red in your eyes
You've come to the right place
People like you, people like me
This is where we all find grace
Come on now

We all go through trials in life but it is how we handle them that matters. Do we allow the enemy an open door or do we lean into God's strength to get through them? Do we listen to people or to God on what to do? Do we give up or continue to pursue the hope of Christ? These are questions we must answer throughout life. The words in this song."Maybe been a long year" made me chuckle. Today is March 1. January and February were not the nicest months to me with physical issues but I'm still here. Praise God! As I think back over the last few years I am amazed at all that has happened yet thankful to be stronger in my faith through everything. 2019 Doc was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and started treatments. 2020 after a sixteen month battle with the cancer he left for heaven. The end of 2020 was when I fell and had a rod put in my arm. The end of 2021 my Rickey left this earth due to COVID. All of these events were challenging. Alll of them were ones I would not wish on anyone. Yet God was with me every step of the way and showing me what I needed to do to have victory in Him. The words in this Scripture are words I can attest to every moment of my life. I trust Him and He fills me with His joy no matter what happens. He gives me strength to carry on in life even when I feel like I cannot. He leads me to make right decisions. Sometimes it takes me a bit to realize what those decisions need to be but He does not give up on me. Woo hoo!

Dear Jesus,

Thank You for bringing this Scripture to me last night along with this song in the middle of the night! Thank You for caring for me so greatly! Thank You for my time with Chrissy, her Mom, and Christy yesterday as we celebrated Chrissy's birthday! Thank You for the rest You provided afterward! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with Yourself. May You ooze out of my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts in the day ahead. I pray for cooperation with Marion today. I also pray for Your love to be experienced by those going through 'tough' days. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Tony and Madeline; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Little Jensen who needs a heart; Sharon Sebolt and her Momma Shirley; the Pottenger Family; Serena and her husband; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; those with COVID either themselves or in their family; Iwilda; Timmy; and many others. Last evening was another 'tough' one as I miss him so greatly. Thank You for being My Strength and Shield! Amen.
