Psalm 91 - He Is Our Protector

I am praying Psalm 91 over the family the Lord woke me up at 5AM to pray for...

Psalm 91 (New Living Translation)

1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished.
9 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!
14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

It was such an abrupt awakening with such an intensity to pray.  I always wonder after I am done as to what is going on in their lives.  This family is on vacation so it could be a lot of different things.  It could be my prayers stopped something from happening.  It really doesn't matter what it is or if I will ever know what it is.  The important thing is that I was obedient and prayed.

I love this Psalm.  It is one that can only be prayed for believers.  When I pray it, I am asking for a hedge of protection to be around me or whoever I am praying it for.  The enemy is given a roadblock when he tries to harm.  When we trust the Lord, He is our hedge of protection.  This past week was one where the enemy tried his best to get us.  When I think about the "what ifs" that could have occurred, the Lord's Hand was definitely protecting us.  To Him be the Glory!  I am so thankful for the prayers that are sent up on our behalf.  We just never know  how much of the enemy is stopped through those prayers.

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for Your Protection, not only for us but for the ones I pray for.  Father, I don't know the circumstance but I do know You didn't wake me up for nothing.  Once again I pray for protection over this family.  I pray You will bless their time of vacation in a mighty way.  During my prayers You had me pray for a physical healing over one of them that is dealing with a disease.  Lord, touch him.  Once again, I don't know if he is suffering right now or not but you told me to pray for him so I did.  Father, I am so thankful for the way You give me opportunity to be an intercessor.  I praise You Lord because I know there are many who pray for me.  Lord, You are so awesome.  Thank You for loving me!  Thank You for blessing me!  Thank You for being My Protector!  Amen.
