John 14 - "Weary Traveler"

Yesterday was another emotional day. Many tears fell as I went rhrough pictures, found a box of Doc's watches, and read cards people sent to me. In the middle of it all when I went to the mailbox there are a card from my friend Serena. Once again tears fell. There were so many emotions yesterday as I thought about all of the different seasons of life I have experienced. Childhood, teen years, young adult years with having my babies, different seasons of ministry, trips Doc and I took, etc. I found a business card from an antique mall Rickey and I visited with his writing on the back of a picture he was going to go back and buy the next time he came down. Mondays are typically days where I try to not do much due to being tired from the weekend. Before starting yesterday I thought it would be an 'easy' project to accomplish for a Monday. I was wrong. I ended up not finishing but instead went to bed early. I am so thankful God is with me all the time. He is with me during 'fun' times and He is with me during 'emotional' times. He is with me when the tears fall whether they are for memories of joyful times or hurtful times. He encourages me greatly through others by cards, texts, calls, etc. Yesterday when I had to get away from it all He blessed me with lunch with my friend Chrissy. He knows what I need and provides. Praise His Holy Name! I woke up this morning with the song "Weary Traveler" on my mind. I am thankful for the knowledge some day I will be with Him and no longer have the hurts of the world to deal with. I am thankful for the hope I experience every day with God as my focus.

Weary traveller, restless soul
You were never meant to walk this road alone
It'll all be worth it so just hold on
Weary traveler, you won't be weary long

Jordan St. Cyr wrote of this song: "My song 'Weary Traveler' is one that sings the journey a lot of us are on right now," St. Cyr shares. "You know God has given us this amazing and beautiful life, but we still get those days and seasons that can leave us run down and worn out. For me and my family, navigating the chronic illness of my youngest daughter has been impossible at times, but what has made it all worth it is knowing we were never meant to walk in our struggle alone. I believe that one day we will find complete rest and healing when Jesus calls us by name. And that one day soon we will make it home."

Yes! I do love my life and the ways God uses me to love on others but some days I get so tired emotionally. Thankfully He is here to love me through such times. He also is here to encourage me to keep my focus on Him. I cling to His words He spoke to His disciples in John 14:27. It reads in the NLT: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." Praise God for His peace! I accept His gift every day. I do not worry about decisions I make because I allow Him to be in control of my life. John 14 begins with Jesus' words that encourage me greatly to walk in obedience to His will.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being with me through another emotional day! Thank You for the card from my friend Serena and lunch with my friend Chrissy! Thank You for texts throughout the day from people who care! It was amazing how many You prompted to show their love for me yesterday when I needed the reminders so much. Cleanse me so You can fill me with more of You. I pray for the day ahead to be filled with people seeing/hearing You through me. I pray for nothing to take my focus off of You. I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days. My Momma; Ben; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; Serena and her husband; Beth and her family; Vivian; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Timmy; Amber; families in turmoil; Ms Savon's friend; Cyndi; Doug and Gay; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Patty's daughter Tracy; Sharon's daughter Ashley; Chrissy's cousins; Shirley Jones; Debbie's husband Kelly; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Betty's husband; my friend with mesothelioma; Judy Link; Little Ivy; my friend with upcoming radiation; and Dorothy's grandson. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Vickie's son Jim, Laurie, and Russ. I pray protection over Clay and his workers. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being My Focus! Amen.

Philippians 4:12 - "Jireh"

God is so good to provide what we need. Yesterday was full of His provision from start to finish. When I needed my Momma checked on, Kim went to her. When I fell apart, Clay and Andy prayed with me. In the midst of chaos He was there to calm my spirit. He provided great memories as we celebrated the six graduates. When I got home, He provided a time of rest. Last evening He provided a relaxful time around a fire with Andy and his boys. He provided fresh oranges and squash from his neighbor. On the way home He provided the song "Jireh" which blessed me in abundance. God provides all we need. The word Jireh means "to see" or "to provide" or to "foresee." The more we realize God will provide what we need the more we can rest in Him. When we are waiting for Him to answer us or to reveal something to us, we can do so with hope. We do not have to manipulate things in life to make them happen the way we desire but instead need to allow Him to provide in His time and in the manner He desires.

Jireh, (You are) You are enough
(You are) Jireh, (You are)
You are enough (So I will be)
I will be content
In every circumstance
Jireh, (He is always enough)
You are enough

These lyrics remind me of Paul's words in Philippians 4. Paul saw a lot of great days but he also saw a lot of trying days. He knew what it meant to depend upon God and wait on His timing. These words from The Voice say it all...

True contentment is the result of a heart committed to the risen Lord. Think of all the sins, pain, and brokenness that come from coveting. Adultery, murder, stealing, and lying can all be traced directly to a prior condition when hearts and minds are frustrated and discontent. Notice what Paul says doesn’t come naturally; it is learned. The normal, natural state of humanity is discontent and quiet desperation. It takes a powerful, spiritual presence to transform anxiety into joyous satisfaction. Ironically, it may be the shackles more than his freedom that schools Paul in the art of contentment. Despite the chains, Paul discovers this beautiful state of inner peace through the power of Jesus residing in him.

Yes! "Joyous satisfaction" is exactly where I desire to live so I can live in His peace. In the midst of the storms of life God is enough. When I begin to feel like I am not enough, He reminds me He is enough in me. I do not have to accept the lies of the enemy nor do I have to not feel good enough. Instead I must trust God and believe. I must seek more of Him so He can reveal more of Himself to me.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for Kim who checked on my Momma and for Clay and Andy who prayed with me when I fell apart! Thank You for loving me so greatly by reminding me You are enough! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray for many going through difficult days to realize You are enough. Thank You for being My Jireh! Amen.

Psalm 34:8-10 - "Heart of the Father"

God woke me during the night and again this morning with the song "Heart of the Father" going through my mind. His love is intimate and powerful. It cannot be compared to anything on this earth.

Jesus, Your name is power, it’s breath and living water
And Your Spirit guides me to the heart of the Father
Let Your praise ring louder every day and every hour
'Cause Your Spirit guides me to the heart of the Father

Yes! There is no better relationship than one with our Heavenly Father. His love is greater than anything. When we fall, He is there to pick us up. The more we seek to live in obedience to His will the more we will experience His love, mercy, and grace. He is always ready to accept our praises. I know I need to praise Him more especially when life is challenging. Yesterday as I registered people for the food distribution I praised Him for each family that received food. I praised Him for each piece of information we handed out about our church and Pastor Brenda's ministry. I praised Him for the volunteers that came and for the rain not coming as predicted. I praised Him for the hot shower, an easy meal to prepare, and rest when I got home. This morning I praised Him for a good night's sleep. Praising is like prayer. It is not for Him but for us. The more I praise Him the better I feel. I praise Him for a body that is moving slow today because I know He will not only get me through the day ahead but will empower me to glorify Him in the process. I praise Him ahead of time for the way He is going to bless not only our service but the services of pastors I prayed for before going to sleep, during the night, and again this morning. Woo hoo God! You are so good!

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for loving me so greatly! Thank You for Jack, Paula, JoAnn, Mike, Tom, and Cait who helped at the Food Distribution yesterday! Thank You for Pastor Brenda and her ministry! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. Lord, I prayed before going to sleep, during the night, and again this morning for pastors and services today. May You be glorified by all. I praiser You for Who You are in my life and for the way You love on me so well. Lord, no matter what happens today I pray You will empower me to praise You through it. I pray the same for many going through difficult times. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being The One I Praise! Amen.

Ephesians 6 - "See Me Through It"

God woke me in the night and again this morning with a song Brandon Heath sings called "See Me Through It." I love how God works! The day ahead will be challenging yet I know He is with me.

I know You're gonna see me through it
If anybody can, You can do it
God, I know in the trial and the pain, fire and the rain
You're gonna see me through it
You're gonna see me through it
If anybody can, You can do it
And whenever my hope runs away, You save the day
You're gonna see me through it

Yes! I know as I keep my focus on Him He will bless my efforts. The more I praise Him through difficult times the more I will be blessed. Praise His Holy Name! A future sermon series on the armor of God reminds me of what I need to do each morning before my feet even hit the floor. I need to be sure to have on each piece of armor for the day ahead. The belt of truth empowers me to be grounded in the truth found in His Word. The breastplate of righteousness empowers me do what is right in God's eyes. The sandals of peace empower me to stand firm in the peace He provides. The shield of faith empowers me to trust God's power and protection when the enemy comes knocking at my door. The helmet of salvation empowers me to make decisions based upon the will of God. The sword of the Spirit empowers me have victory in the battles of life through reading His Word. Plain and simple. I am empowered to stand against the enemy and have victory! Woo hoo! No matter what lies ahead God is with me. That knowledge also empowers me to continue to trust Him and walk in obedience to His will.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the rest You provided yesterday and the strength You will provide for the day ahead! Thank You for the reminder of the blessing of putting on Your full armor! Thank You for cleansing me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You! Lord, as I pray this morning there are so many people going through difficult days in my little world. I pray You will be so real to them so they too can be empowered to trust You. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Vickie's son Jim, Laurie, Russ, Kathy and her family and Doug and his family with his father's Celebration of Life today. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being My Full Armor! Amen.

II Chronicles 20; I Samuel 17; Ephesians 6; Nehemiah 8:10 - "Yes I Will"

Yesterday I was reminded so many times of how blessed I am to have God in my life. He brought before me so many people to pray for and gave me the opportunity to pray with some of them. As I prayed for people I thought about how many people are not leaning into God's strength. That saddens my heart. Instead of allowing God to see them through some tough situations they are choosing to wallow in their misery, participate in the drama the world thrives on, etc. I am reminded of the story in II Chronicles of King Jehoshaphat who was up against an enemy. He faced the battle with God and received victory. No matter what we go through in life it is key to allow God to be in charge. God reminded me of a few things last night as I watched the sunset. One was He is in charge of everything. He tells the sun when to set and there is beauty that comes from its obedience. Secondly, people will do what they desire to do. Sometimes that includes what the enemy desires because they have allowed him into their life. Sometimes it includes turning away from God because of the way the world entices them. No matter what, God is still with all as we allow Him to be. David realized the battle with Goliath was not his but God's. David had faith God would fight the battle for him and received victory (I Samuel 17). We need to praise Him when we receive victory. We need to praise Him through the battles of life. We need to praise Him when the enemy comes knocking at our door. Plain and simple. We need to praise Him. The words to "Yes I Will" are on my mind this morning...

Oh, yes I will, lift You high in the lowest valley
Yes I will, bless Your name
Oh, yes I will, sing for joy when my heart is heavy
For all my days, oh yes I will

Praising God is something the enemy does not like but it definitely is something that pleases God. Woo hoo! I do not have to wait for a victory to happen in situations because the ultimate victory has already happened. Praise His Holy Name! Today I choose to not allow the enemy an open door into my life through people and circumstances. I choose to stand in victory in knowing the 'battles' before me are not mine but His. I choose to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6) and allow Him to fight the 'battles' before me. I choose to live in Nehemiah 8:10 knowing the joy God puts in me strengthens me. I will trust Him through the 'battles' of life. I am reminded of the story in this week's sermon where Joshua trusted Him and the walls of Jericho fell down. Woo hoo! I am trusting Him for the walls of 'my Jericho' to fall down.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings yesterday with seeing Brooklyn, lunch with Nancy, my time with Marion, having the opportunity to go to Women Helping Women group, seeing my Carrington family, and ending the day with the beautiful sunset! I pray for Laurie to feel Your love today. I pray for many going through difficult 'battles' to allow You to be their Victory. May the enemy be knocked down mightily where he is tearing lives apart. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing. May You be heard/seen through me today. I pray for victory for those going through 'tough' days. Sometimes victory comes in small ways but may we all praise You through whatever lies ahead today. I pray for: My Momma; Ben; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; Serena and her husband; Beth and her family; Vivian; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Timmy; Amber; families in turmoil; Ms Savon's friend; Cyndi; Doug and Gay; and many others. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Vickie's son Jim, Russ, and Kathy and her family. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being My Victory! Amen.

Psalm 16:11; 27:4-6 - "House of the Lord"

I love how God encourages me. He woke me in the middle of the night with a song Phil Wickham sings called "House of the Lord." This song reminds me to live in His joy no matter what is happening in life. His joy is where His peace is found. No matter what happens on this earth as I live in His joy I will experience His joy in heaven. I do not have to live in the 'junk' of the world but instead can rest in Him. I love how He brings Sunday sermons, Wednesday Bible studies, children's Sunday School, etc. altogether. When I am crafting future sermons and something comes to my mind from a current study, it assures me I am doing what He desires. David's words found in Psalm 16:11 show me he found the 'secret' to life is God. It is a life where He is the first thing to think of when I wake and the last thing to think of when I lay down. The more I seek His will for my life the more I will realize it. The more I seek His joy the more I will experience it. David wrote in Psalm 27:4-6 (NLT):

The one thing I ask of the Lord
    the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
    delighting in the Lord’s perfections
    and meditating in his Temple.
For he will conceal me there when troubles come;
he will hide me in his sanctuary.
He will place me out of reach on a high rock.
Then I will hold my head high
above my enemies who surround me.
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy,
singing and praising the Lord with music.

David was grateful for living in God's presence. I am grateful for such a life. It is a life that produces great joy. Such a life is not liked by the enemy and causes many times of grief from him. But he does not have the power to steal my joy. In the midst of discouragement God is my strength to stand firm in my faith to not allow the enemy an open door. Praise His Holy Name! I love the words to this song....

There's joy
In the house of the Lord
There's joy in the house of the Lord today
And we won't be quiet
We shout out Your praise

I need to praise Him more for all He is in my life. The more I praise Him the more joy I will experience.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for encouraging me to praise You in the midst of discouragement! Thank You for loving on my so greatly to give me Scripture and a song to start my day! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May You flow from my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. I pray Your joy over many going through difficult days. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Vickie's son Jim, Russ, and Kathy and her family. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being My Joy! Amen.

Psalm 31 - "Almost Home"

God took me to Psalm 31 this morning. It is a Psalm that encourages all to keep on living for Him. It encourages me when I am lonely to lean into Him. In times of trouble He is always here for us. When we feel like we cannot continue to put one foot in front of the other He is our strength. I am thankful for His love and for the way He shows it to me. When I think about where I am in life, I am thankful He is guiding me every step of the way. I cannot imagine doing life without Him. I cannot imagine the love it took for God to have His One and Only Son die for us. Verse five of this Psalm shows David giving up himself for God in a different manner. He had great faith in God and was in relationship with Him where He strived to walk in obedience to His will. I desire to do the same. I desire to put a smile on God's face with my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts. The only way for that to happen is to be in relationship with Him where I not only hear His voice but walk in obedience to it. My physical body will eventually quit breathing but my spiritual body will never quit. When my last breath is taken on this earth, I will live with Him in heaven. I do not have to give into the ways of the world but instead need to be strong in my faith. I do not have to fall into the traps of the enemy but instead need to allow God to be my strength. David's life is an example to learn from. His life had its ups and downs. There were times he was so faithful and other times not. There were times he fell into the traps of the enemy. Thankfully God was there to love him back into relationship with Him. Matthew Henry wrote:

Instead of yielding to impatience or despondency under our troubles, we should turn our thoughts to the goodness of the Lord towards those who fear and trust in Him. All comes to sinners through the wondrous gift of the only-begotten Son of God, to be the atonement for their sins. Let not any yield to unbelief, or think, under discouraging circumstances, that they are cut off from before the eyes of the Lord, and left to the pride of men. Lord, pardon our complaints and fears; increase our faith, patience, love, and gratitude; teach us to rejoice in tribulation and in hope. The deliverance of Christ, with the destruction of his enemies, ought to strengthen and comfort the hearts of believers under all their afflictions here below, that having suffered courageously with their Master, they may triumphantly enter into his joy and glory.

I desire to enter and bask in His joy while on earth so I can enjoy His glory in heaven. I know some days I fail at doing what I need to do or I do things I should not. Thankfully God continues to wake me up and gives me another chance at doing life as He desires. When people disappoint me, I must remember we all disappoint God and yet He doesn't give up on us. I must continue to pray for people's souls. I must not allow the enemy an open door into my life that will pull me out of relationship with Him. I am reminded of the song "Almost Home" this morning and yearning to be in heaven.

Almost home
Brother it won't be long
Soon all your burdens will be gone
With all your strength
Sister run wild run free
Hold up your head
Keep pressing on
We are almost home

Sometimes I wonder how I can be homesick for someplace I've never been. Maybe it's because there are so many people I love already there. I was daydreaming the other day about what it would be like to sit and pray again with dear Lenora and dear Marilyn. Oh what precious memories I have of our prayer times.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being with me last evening when the loneliness took over! Thank You for the promise of eternal life with You! Thank You for cleansing me so You can fill me with more of You! Thank You for reminding me of the joy I have in my life with You! When life becomes heavy, I am grateful for Your encouragement to continue on. I pray the same for many going through 'tough' days. My Momma; Ben; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; Serena and her husband; Beth and her family; some young ladies with anxiety; a man in rehab for anger issues; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; a husband/father separated from his wife; Mary Lilley; Preacher Bill Watts; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Timmy; Amber; families in turmoil; Ms Savon's friend; Cyndi; Doug and Gay; and many others. I pray for: Jonathan whose mother was diagnosed with a brain tumor, the Long Family, Vickie's son Jim, Russ, and Kathy and her family. Thank You for continued improvement with Pastor Sam and for Baby Henry! Thank You for being My Home! Amen.
