Jeremiah 33:3 - "In Jesus Name (God of Possible)"

Last night in Bible study Ms Carol reminded us that we need to be thankful no matter what is happening in life. This also came out in a conversation with a friend Sunday and in the sermon. God has a purpose when He continues to put something before you. This is a great reminder for all of us. I think this time of year with all that happens around the holiday season it is especially a good reminder. I shared last night when I was having such a hard day physically Sunday I thanked God for the ability to drive, function, preach, etc. I thanked Him for a great day that not only included time with my church family but a birthday party spent with some of my little guys and a visit with friends at my house. I thanked Him yesterday for lessening in the tingling in my head/face. I thank Him this morning for eight hours of sleep last night. I thank Him I was able to go back to sleep each of the four times I was awake. God is so good on the mountaintop and He is so good in the valleys of life. He is so good to provide exactly what we need in His time. When I woke at 2:30 yesterday for the day, He crafted three sermons before 7AM. It was one of those times when I could not type fast enough. He gave me insight into the direction of the sermons He desires over the next few months. I am excited for the time when He reveals more for them. This morning He reminded me of a verse He gave me at Family Camp in June. Jeremiah 33:3 is direction for all of us. Jeremiah was imprisoned at the time the Lord spoke to him. There are different types of imprisonment other than the actual physical imprisonment. We can be imprisoned by our own thoughts, by words spoken over us, by things the enemy puts before us, etc. God is there to break the chains of such things. He is always there to not only love us through such times but to stretch our faith and empower us to trust Him more. Katy Nicole sings a song called "In Jesus Name (God of Possible)" that resonates in my heart for many people...

I speak the name of Jesus over you
In your hurting, in your sorrow
I will ask my God to move
I speak the name 'cause it's all that I can do
In desperation, I'll seek Heaven
And pray this for you
I pray for your healing, that circumstances would change
I pray that the fear inside would flee in Jesus' name
I pray that a breakthrough would happen today
I pray miracles over your life in Jesus' name
In Jesus' name

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for the reminder to be thankful no matter what is happening in life! Thank You for my church family who love on me so well! Thank You for another day of life ahead and for the tingling lessening! Cleanse me so You can fill me with more of You. May You shine brightly through my words, actions, attitude, and thoughts today. I pray "In Jesus Name" over many going through valleys in life. My Momma; my sisters Linda, Sally, and Mary; my brother Richard; Ben and Colleen; Pete and Delores; Steve; Cait; Rhonda; Mike; Norma Hall; Sharon Sebolt and her parents; some young ladies with anxiety; a young man out of rehab who needs strength in his daily walk; Mary Lilley; a husband/father separated from his wife; Brooklyn; Kristen Batten; Amber; families in turmoil; Gay and Doug; Sherry; Serena and her husband; and many others. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Chrissy's cousin; Shirley Jones; Preacher Bill Watts; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; Little Roselynn; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff's husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; a dear friend awaiting an oncologist appointment; and a young lady awaiting cancer testing. I pray for: the Long Family, Becky, Russ, a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, Darryle and his family, and Pastor Nancy. I praise You for continued reconciliation for a father and his prodigal daughter. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Thank You for being My Strength! Amen.

Romans 12:1-2 - "Relate"

I will be glad when these 2:30AM wake-up times are finished! Only a couple more days of the high-dose prednisone then a couple weeks for it to stay in my system and then I will be back to my normal routine. I am so thankful this round of prednisone has not made me extremely hungry as it usually does. This is the first time to not gain weight while on it. My new habits continue to be just that. Good habits. Those are important in life. Physically eating right, exercising, etc. is crucial to honor the temple God has given us in our bodies. Emotionally allowing yourself to heal from hurts in life, letting the tears fall when they come, and not being too hard on yourself is so important. Financially allowing God to be in control of every purchase made, when and how to spend money, etc. is a must. Spiritually being in the Word, praying, being loving to all, etc. is key in living in God's will. I am reminded of Paul's words in Romans 12. He speaks about the importance of living for God. Matthew Henry wrote of this Scripture: We receive from the Lord every day the fruits of his mercy. Let us render ourselves; all we are, all we have, all we can do: and after all, what return is it for such very rich receivings? It is acceptable to God: a reasonable service, which we are able and ready to give a reason for, and which we understand.

God's love, grace, and mercy are available 24/7 as we allow Him to live in and through us. When we fall, He doesn't turn His back on us but instead loves us back into full relationship with Him. When we miss an opportunity He gives us, He doesn't make it just a one-time thing but gives us more opportunities. He empowers us through the Holy Spirit to live as He desires when we walk in His presence. The desire to walk in His will is strong but there are times when that falters due to our circumstances, other people, etc. In this Scripture Paul tells us we will be transformed as we live for Him. Transformation is a process of change. Sometimes change is hard because our humanness kicks in. We fall into the trap of saying 'I can't' when in fact if it is of God we can do anything. Life can be challenging yet God is there to lift us up and encourage us. I praise His Holy Name for never giving up on me. I am reminded of the words to the song "Relate" this morning...

Have you ever been left when you should've been loved?
Has there ever been a time when you stayed but you should've run?
'Cause I've been real, I've been fake
Been a sinner, been a saint
I've been right, I've been so, so wrong
Yeah, I've made my mistakes

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for lessening with the tingling! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray Your love and peace over many going through difficult days. I praise You for a meeting between a father and his prodigal daughter yesterday and pray for continued reconciliation. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Thank You for being My Strength! Amen.

Psalm 37:4 - "Miracle Power"

Weekends seem to be crammed full with busyness so I try to keep Mondays 'light' on the calendar. After waking at 2:30AM for the day I was more determined than ever to have an easy day. I felt like I didn't get much accomplished the first few hours but tried to allow God to give me rest. Being creative in the kitchen with a couple new recipes blessed me in abundance. The afternoon was perfect with first a walk in the woods and then a walk on the beach gathering shells for a project Cait and I are doing. As I walked on the beach I was reminded of a verse in Psalms about how God gives us the desires of our hearts. I thought about how as a little girl I always wanted to visit the ocean. A 'perfect' day in my mind would be walking and picking up seashells. Now I can do that task daily if I so desire. Wow, God! When I was on the beach, I talked with a couple men visiting. They asked me some questions about the area and it put a smile on my face that I could answer their questions. I love living here. I love the beauty of God's creation. I love the blessings He gives me. I love the people in my life. I love my life. Later in the day I received news of a dear friend who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I also received a disappointing phone call regarding Christmas. I am thankful God blesses me through slower days where He fills my emotional tank up with such things as walks in the woods and on the beach. I also am thankful He blesses me when disheartening news comes. I am thankful for the reminder given to me Sunday to be more thankful. As I said in this week's sermon, when we focus on God it takes our focus off of our own issues. I am thankful yesterday was a day with less tingling in my face/head. Today it seems to be rearing it's ugly head again but I know God will see me through it and for that I am thankful. This morning I am reminded of a song We The Kingdom sings called "Miracle Power" and praying for many going through difficult days.

I may not know
What a day may bring
But I know who brings the day
On the darkest night
When I cannot see
Still, my soul will say

Dear Jesus, Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones in the day ahead! Thank You for speaking to me as I walked in the woods and then on the beach yesterday! Thank You for the beauty of Your creation! Cleanse me so You can fill me with more of You. I pray for Pastor Nancy who is having surgery today to receive Your peace. I pray Your peace over many going through difficult days. Normal life can be challenging but when the holidays roll around it can become overwhelming. May You be what is needed for all today. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, and Darryle and his family. I praise You for a meeting between a father and his prodigal daughter today. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My Strength! Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 - "Joy In The Morning"

Yesterday was one of those days when I finished preaching I wondered what I said and if what I said got the message across as God desired. I was so distracted by the tingling in my face/head and struggled with speaking. When I woke up with the tingling and shakies, I asked God to give me what I needed to accomplish His goal. I had comments afterward about how good of a sermon it was and was thankful God was in control. We all have distractions in life. Some are in the physical sense such as illness, handicaps, etc. Others are in the emotional sense such as relationship issues, anger, sadness, grief, etc. What we must be aware of are those that hit in our spiritual sense. The enemy does not like when people make strides toward living as God desires. He puts distractions before us to pull us away from God. We all have freewill so must make 'right' decisions to stand up against the enemy. It takes being intentional in our relationship with God to be in a place where we not only hear Him but desire to walk in obedience to Him. I am reminded again this morning of Jeremiah's words in chapter twenty-nine. Verse thirteen tells us when we look for Him intently, we will find Him. Distractions in life can take away the intention in our focus on Him. They can cloud our thinking. Thoughts will come into our minds that are not normal for us. What we must remember is that nothing surprises God. He knows all. He sees all. That does not mean just our actions but our thoughts too. We have to allow Him into our life totally if we truly want to be intentional in our relationship with Him. That means before saying 'yes' to another project or activity we need to allow Him to direct our response. It means realizing not everything that is 'good' is good to do. We cannot do everything put before us. When we try to do so, distractions will become greater. A distraction is something that takes our focus off of what is important. So many times when I am with others I look around and see many on their phones instead of having conversation with the people with them. That is a distraction. I catch myself thinking about my response to what someone is saying to me instead of fully listening to them. That is a distraction. I desire to be fully engaged with people I am with but I know I fail at times. I need to get better at it and pray for God to empower me to do so. Today is a new day of a new week. My mind is all over the place as I deal with the effects of the high dose prednisone which causes little sleep. But I will be intentional in not allowing my circumstances to distract me. Instead I am choosing to focus on allowing God to guide me through this hurdle in life. Tauren Wells' song reminds me there will be "Joy In The Morning"! Life may not make sense but I just need to trust God for whatever lies ahead.

Everything happens for a reason
But you don't know what you don't know
And you'll never have peace if you don't let go of tomorrow
'Cause it ain't even faith 'til your plan falls apart
But you still choose to follow
If it doesn't make sense right now
It will when it's over
There will be joy in the morning

Dear Jesus, Thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace that surrounds me! Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for empowering me over distractions of life. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray Your peace and joy over many going through hurdles in life. I also pray healing prayers over many who are dealing with 'c' and/or going through treatments...Chrissy's cousin; Shirley Jones; Preacher Bill Watts; Cait's friend with leukemia; my pastor friend with daily chemo; Little Ivy; Little Judson; Little Roselynn; a young girl in our community; a lady whose breast cancer has returned; a lady diagnosed with stage two breast cancer; a lady diagnosed with throat cancer; Sue Danhoff's husband Harv; Michele with breast cancer; and a young lady awaiting cancer testing. I pray for: the Long Family, Becky, Russ, a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, and Darryle and his family. I pray for a father with a prodigal daughter to know You have not left him. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My Strength! Amen.

Psalm 93 - "I Am Not Alone"

God took me to Psalm 93 this morning as a reminder the promises found in His Word are applicable today just as they were yesterday. This Psalm reminds us everything that was foretold years ago will happen in God's time. It also reminds us to stay 'right' with Him. We never know when our last breath will be taken on this earth. Our time as an individual could be up at any time or Jesus could return and the time on earth for all will be gone. We never know. We can be assured of living with Him for eternity when we live for Him while on this earth. When we fall into the antics of the enemy, God is there to love us back. Praise His Holy Name. It is never too late to get 'right' with God. He never gives up on us but instead pours out His love, mercy, and grace over us as we allow Him. I am grateful for the way He pours Himself into me. In my darkness hours, He is there to light the way. In my lowest moments, He is there to lift me up. When life seems too overwhelming to breathe, He is there breathing life into me. Some days are just harder than others. It seems like some days are spent taking a step forward only to take two steps back. On such days He reminds me I am not alone and do not have to do life on my own. This morning I am reminded of a song Kari Jobe sings called "I Am Not Alone" and feeling blessed...

When I walk through deep waters
I know that You will be with me
When I'm standing in the fire
I will not be overcome
Through the valley of the shadow
I will not fear
I am not alone, I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me...

Knowing I am not alone is key to getting through life without losing my mind. I may be physically alone but God is always with me. I can feel His presence and strength as I lean into Him. When life gets overwhelming, I need to lean in harder to experience His strength in a greater way.

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for loving me so greatly and reminding me "I Am Not Alone"! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. I pray not only for myself but for all pastors to be empowered today to speak boldly what You have given each one of us. I pray Your peace and strength over many going through 'tough' days. I pray for: Sherry and her family, Joyce and her family, the Long Family, Becky, Russ, a couple contemplating divorce and another couple having serious issues. Thank You for continued healing for: Pastor Tommy and Pam, Baby Henry, Kaye, and Darryle and his family. I pray for a father with a prodigal daughter to know You have not left him. I pray for Melinda and Todd with all they are going through. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates and I pray the 'hippie hippie shakes' calm down. Thank You for being My Strength! Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3 - "How Great Thou Art"

The Christmas season is joyful for most but not for all. Fifty years ago the Christmas season was so hard with going through my sister being murdered the end of that October. 2019 was hard with knowing it was probably Doc's last Christmas on this earth. 2020 was hard with losing both him and Mordecei that year along with having my fall off a ladder that resulted in a rod and screws in my arm. 2021 was hard with losing my Rickey one year ago today. I told Cait the other day I'm beginning to not like this season which is sad. Christmas has always been my favorite time of year with celebrating Jesus' birth. Being away from my biological family is hard yet I know even if I were in Ohio my time would still be limited with them. No gifts under the tree is different than when the boys were growing up. Waking up alone on Christmas morning will be a first for me this year. Last year I woke up at my Momma's house. Seasons of life change and we must be willing to 'go with the flow' through them. We must be willing to allow God to heal our hurts, encourage us, love on us, etc. He does that in various ways. He blesses us through making new memories, people who love on us, words to encourage us. Last year when I received 'the call' to go to Ohio for my Rickey's last moments on this earth I was so blessed through Anna, Michael, and Matthew. I was blessed in the way they accepted me into their Dad's life and shared those last moments with me. I was blessed in all the memories we made in such a short time over the eleven months God gave us. What a treasured gift! I am blessed with all the pictures taken, laughs that happened, places we went, etc. The short season of life with my Rickey was rich in so many ways. Knowing he went to be with the Lord when he left this earth is priceless. The healing he provided in my life over Doc's death is something only he could give. We would talk about what he and Doc did growing up and I heard stories only he could tell. One of my favorite memories of our time together was actually when we were seven hundred miles apart. I was driving down Carteret Street with my sunroof open and the sun shining down on me. He was at home in Ohio playing "How Great Thou Art" on the mandolin with both of us singing. How precious of a memory that is in my memory bank! We had dreams of life together. We talked of getting married and having an Ohio home and a South Carolina home. Those dreams were not to be. Sometimes I ask God 'Why?' but I realize everything happens in His time. I am sad as I think about a year ago yet I am happy for the time I had with him. 'My Rickey season' was a blessing I am grateful for and will always treasure.

Dear Jesus, Thank You for 'my Rickey season' that gave me many memories to think about today! Thank You for being close to Anna, Michael, and Matthew as they remember their Dad every day but especially today! Thank You for the blessings of yesterday and the ones ahead today! Thank You for Your love, mercy, and grace! Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May Your peace come down upon all who are hurting. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My Season Maker! Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:1,11 - "The Goodness"

Living in Ohio for my first fifty-five years of life gave me lots of memories of enjoying the different seasons. Fall was always my favorite with the beauty of the changing leaves, the crisp air, etc. Moving to South Carolina was an adjustment in many ways but especially with the seasons. I remember the first time we traveled to Florida in February and I walked on the beach barefoot. I was blown away that was possible. It was my first time leaving Ohio for warmer climate in the winter and I loved it. The other night when the water came up into my crocs it was cold but I still marveled at living in such a place. Yesterday looking through the banana trees out over the woods blessed me in abundance. Seeing color sprinkled in the trees is a blessing to my spirit. It put a smile on my face. The seasons of life can be colorful and beautiful or they can be drab and ugly. A 'dry' season can hit you like a ton of bricks where you feel like you are not going to get through the tough things happening. It is then you must trust God and allow Him to grow your faith deeper. Many times a 'dry' season is also a 'waiting' season. You must wait on God instead of manipulating circumstances to be as you think they should be. You may find yourself so caught up in a 'busy' season that God has to stop you so you can hear from Him and walk in obedience to His will. This is what happened when I was initially diagnosed with MS. I prayed for patience in life and spent four months in bed, wheelchair, using a walker, then a cane, and finally back on my own strength. My life has experienced many seasons both in a physical sense and in a spiritual sense. The best season is that of 'contentment' which can occur in 'good' times and 'tough' times. Having His peace is the best season of all. I have a song Toby Mac sings on my heart this morning called "The Goodness"...

Ain't no doubt about You
Everywhere that I go
You keep showin' up
Lord, You make me wanna shout it, oh
You're the goodness in my life
And I'ma tell you my truth
They may come, they may go
You keep showin' up, sure do
Ain't no doubt about it
You are, You are the goodness in my life

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for the blessings of yesterday with safe travels and Andy's procedure going well! I continue to pray for Jack as he has a scheduled procedure and Doug with his procedure today. May You continue to give all of them Your peace. I pray the same for many going through difficult seasons in life. Cleanse me so You can fill me to overflowing with more of You. May people see/hear You through me today. Lord, once again I pray today will be the day the MS tingling dissipates. Thank You for being My Goodness! Amen.
